Efficient, sustainable and smooth handling of excavated materials

The company Sunaru works with cable excavation and handles thousands of tonnes of excavation materials every year, including materials that contain contaminants. To ensure the efficient, sustainable and smooth handling of these materials, Sunaru chose to collaborate with Sortera.

Hantering av massor

Sunaru AB is an established player in earthworks in Stockholm and the surrounding areas. Sunaro uses Sortera as a recipient of excavated material and to get help with analyses.

With framework agreements with both municipal and private customers, the company often runs several projects in parallel. To maintain high quality and efficiency, it is crucial to have a reliable partner that can offer both advice and the practical handling of excavated material.

Close collaboration in projects

Sebastian Törner, sales and facility manager at Sortera in Nykvarn, has worked with Sunaru since June 2023. He works closely with Sunaru’s project managers and is often on site to support projects.

“I support the project managers with issues that arise directly on site. By being there, I can quickly determine whether materials need to be sorted or whether they consist of clay or roots, for example. This allows me to give Sunaru an estimate of both the handling and the costs involved,” says Sebastian.

Early-stage analysis simplifies the process

Many of Sunaru’s projects involve excavation on civil engineering projects, which often means that contaminated materials need to be handled. Analyses at an early stage are crucial for this to happen smoothly.

“When I receive analyses of the masses before the excavation starts, I can give suggestions for how to best handle them. This includes both price estimates and detailed planning for transport and logistics,” says Sebastian.

Consulting according to environmental requirements

In addition to practical advice on handling excavated materials, Sunaru receives support in interpreting and understanding the analyses.

“We work based on the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s guidelines, which ensures that material handling meets all the applicable environmental requirements and regulations,” says Sebastian.
