Collaboration with clear expectations
With high standards, clear expectations and mutual trust, Sortera delivers tailor-made waste solutions to construction company Metrolit. This allows Metrolit to focus on its construction projects without compromising the environment.

Metrolit has been working with Sortera since 2019, and today Sortera handles almost 90 percent of the company’s construction waste. Metrolit, which works with office renovations, housing projects and renovations of listed buildings in Stockholm, places high demands on waste management while ensuring that it minimises its environmental impact.
“We need a supplier that we trust. On advanced projects, we need to be able to trust our partner will bring with the right equipment, the right drivers and at the right time. Notifications are also important to ensure that everything runs smoothly,” says Tommy Jansson, Purchasing and Costing Manager at Metrolit.
An important part of the collaboration is joint start-up meetings.
“In these meetings, we go through the client’s requirements, wishes and expectations. In addition, we include our own high-level environmental goals at an early stage,” says Jansson.
Continuous improvements
Over the years, Metrolit has exposed Sortera to competition. On some occasions, other suppliers have proven to be stronger in specific areas, which Metrolit has highlighted this with Sortera.
“They have listened to my views and provided feedback. Sortera has a high level of service, responds quickly and is very easy to work with,” says Jansson.
Edwin Bergquist, Sales Manager at Sortera in Stockholm, believes that a strong collaboration is based on high expectations from both parties:
“We want to work closely with our customers and be involved in their projects from start to finish. The earlier Metrolit lets us be part of the process, the more efficient the waste management will be. It should work without being seen, while at the same time contributing to the lowest possible total cost and environmental footprint,” says Bergquist.
Transparency through easy-to-use customer portal

An important part of Sortera’s offering is transparency – customers should know how their waste is sorted and where it goes. Via Sortera’s customer portal, site managers can follow up on orders, download permits and print signs in real time.
“Sortera’s customer portal is among the best in the industry. Even those who usually avoid digital tools find it easy to use,” says Jansson.
Proper waste management yields results
Sortera strives to spread knowledge about waste management to all parts of Metrolit, from sustainability managers to site managers and carpenters. By being on site and offering training, Sortera helps Metrolit reduce the amount of unsorted waste.
“When we get the right waste sorting established, we see that the mixed waste can be reduced by up to 40 percent. It is a win for both us and the environment,” says Jansson.
