Sustainability at Sortera

The demand for circular solutions is increasing. We collaborate together with our customers to streamline resource use and reduce climate impact. Through technological advances, we can continuously increase the proportion of recycled materials and move secondary waste streams higher up the waste hierarchy, to be a role model in the transition to a more circular society. 

We all need to protect our common resources. It’s about minimising use and making efficient, wise and smart choices from the very beginning. The next step is then to ensure that the resources we use are in demand and that they promote sustainability for as long as possible. We want to ‘re-circulate’ the materials back into the value chain. 

We work to extend the lifespan of infrastructure – both underground and within properties and industry. Specifically, we clean and maintain pipe systems, silos and boilers through various high-pressure, flushing and suction services. 

At all levels – global, regional and local – climate goals and strategies for circularity are being set, and we want to be a driving force in that change at Sortera. 

Our contribution to a smaller footprint

The construction sector accounts for a large proportion of Europe’s energy consumption, waste and greenhouse gas emissions. Through increased material efficiency, these emissions can be reduced by up to 80%, saving both energy and natural resources. 

At Sortera, we support our customers to increase their recycling rates and follow strict environmental requirements and regulations to offer more sustainable solutions. 

Continuous development at all levels

We strive to support our customers throughout the entire value chain. We offer advice and training to help customers manage residual products and waste in a sustainable way and encourage careful sorting, which optimises the recycling of materials. 

After processing at our own facilities, we ensure that waste is passed on to operators with the correct permits on site for further treatment, for example for metal recycling. Through continuous improvements in our processes, we want to reduce the proportion of waste sent to landfill and create long-term sustainable waste management. 

Working with materials we already have 

At Sortera, we have high ambitions when it comes to making good use of the resources already in circulation. We constantly develop and have begun the productification of stone. 

At the same time, we want to be a business that helps find the optimal use for waste. It could be clean waste that needs to be stored before it can be sold on, or waste with some contamination that could be swapped with other waste or used for earthworks. 

A cleaner environment for future generations  

Ensuring a clean environment requires both waste management and remediation. Sortera develops technologies to remediate soil and water, focusing on PFAS-contaminated areas where preventive measures are not sufficient.
